Huddinge is a municipality with proud nature conservation traditions. The Nature Conservation Unit manages the municipality's 12 nature reserves and a biotope protection area, totaling 39% of the municipality's area. Nature conservation is part of the Nature and Climate Department. We have 10 people working with nature conservation - four ecologists/reserve managers, three nature conservation guards, and three nature conservationists.

The Environmental and Building Permit Administration is responsible for authority activities in the areas of building permits, land surveying, and environmental supervision. The administration also drives strategic climate issues and manages the operation of streets, roads, parks, and natural areas in collaboration with other actors.

As a unit manager for nature conservation in Huddinge municipality, you lead an operation that is outstanding at the national level. Together with competent employees in nature conservation, reserve management, and biological diversity, you lead and develop the unit's work. Through your leadership, you create engagement for Huddinge's many nature reserves. You have personnel responsibility and are responsible for the unit's goal fulfillment, results, and finances.

An important part of your managerial and leadership role will be to stimulate enhanced collaboration within and outside the unit and to lead the development of existing and new work processes. As a manager and leader, you follow up, provide feedback, and support and provide opportunities for development to your employees. As a unit manager, you are active in the operation and lead your employees in their various projects and may, to some extent, project manage various nature conservation efforts yourself.

Another important part of your assignment is to continue to drive the unit's successful labor market work together with the unit's employees.

The assignment also involves, together with the department head, looking ahead and working more strategically based on the Nature and Climate Department and the municipal group as a whole. Current issues include, among other things, utilizing the potential of the operation to further develop and make services related to nature experiences accessible to residents. Other current issues include, for example, damage relief for infrastructure projects and restoration of wetlands.

Your profile

We are looking for someone with a relevant academic education, such as ecology, nature conservation, or equivalent, or a solid and broad relevant experience deemed equivalent.

You are an experienced manager and leader with documented very good experience in work management and project management, as well as good experience in actively leading change and development work. Furthermore, you have a very good understanding of a politically governed operation. Experience in formal personnel and budget responsibility is a strong merit.

To succeed in the assignment, you need to be grounded in the unit's subject matter, and we are therefore looking for someone with several years of experience in practical and strategic work in nature conservation efforts, such as management of nature reserves, wetland projects, or work with biological diversity.

As the operation is partly conducted through contracted entrepreneurs, it is a merit if you have knowledge of the Public Procurement Act. You have experience working with outdoor issues, as well as various types of encroachments, negotiations, and contract writing are also advantageous.

You have the ability to engage and involve employees and to project manage and solve problems. You create a good working environment within and outside the group.
